Here's another illustration from this quarter's The Cat magazine about a young girl who fashioned a makeshift ramp for her new kittens to be able to climb up onto her bed. Super cute idea!

The other day poor Tali got herself all worked up in some kind of sneezing episode. When I say she got worked up I actually mean Tali simply sneezed repeatedly and I totally freaked out. But all is well and she seems completely fine. So it was me just being an idiot.

Right about now, those who regularly get The Cat magazine should be receiving their copies through the post and in it will be the illustration you see above. Well, eventually see after it's all come together! Illustrating this piece was ace and perfect to show the process I went through. I'm rather fond of making process posts now!
If you would like a copy of The Cat magazine, details can be found here.

Last weekend saw quite possibly my favourite MCM Expo to date play out at the ExCel in London with oodles of people of all ages attending, browsing, chatting and cosplaying over three days. I was only there on the Saturday and Sunday however had a great time not only catching up with some great artist pals (such as Cristian Ortiz and Michael Lomon) but also with some kind folk who follow and buy my comics. It's a shame I won't be attending any conventions until October though I am hoping to be at a few other events between now and then. I'll more details once I know them myself! In the mean time, I've posted some of the quick commissions I drew over the weekend (click the images to enlarge) and you can see my ugly mug and lovely table set up over at the Pages and Panels site along with a lot of cool people showing their wares too.
Thanks once again to everyone who said Hi and visited my table!

No matter how angry, fidgety, restless or excitable Tali is, there's a spot on the back of her neck that when scratched, instantly makes her drop to the floor in a state of pure glee. Naturally I exploit this trick.

Here's a sneak peek of a project I've been working on for around a year now. It's an app for Cats Protection. Initially it was just concepts and rough artwork but since January this year, I and the multi-talented developer Moopf, have been busying ourselves with all manner of coding, illustrating and gaming mechanics to get this app off the ground. And it's working!
The idea of the app is to give the player a lighthearted view of what it's like to run a Cats Protection Homing Centre, rehome and look after a number of cats. In gaming terms we've combined the fun of a match-3 puzzle game with the challenge of a light sim management game. How it works is that a cat will come in to your Centre in need of rehoming. You then play a match-3 puzzle game to get that cat ready for adoption by making sure it's well fed, looked after and entertained. If successful the cat then has a short stay in the Centre before being adopted. The Centre can be improved with new rooms such as a Behaviour Suite, Vet Block additional Cat Wings and more.
The screen shots above show the match-3 game in action (how cute is Burt?!). It's been so fun to work on but it's not over yet as we're currently putting together the management sim. So I still get to draw a lot more cool things! The plan is to launch the app on all Android and iOS devices this Summer but I will have a build with me for anyone who is going to the MCM Expo to have a play with this weekend. Yet another reason to come along to my table!

There's only a few days to go before the first MCM Expo of the year where I will be selling my goods alongside Michael Lomon (check out his work, it's super good!). We'll be at table E11 which I've marked up on this slightly dodgy floor plan that I found online.
What you can expect to find at my table will be: Princess, Goodbye Kitty, Protocol, Best of Eat, Sleep, Sniff vol1 & 2, Video Game Pussy poster 1 & a brand new Video Game Pussy poster 2, Tali A Day In Her Life poster and comic PLUS new badges, stickers, Love cats cards, Beat the blues cards, quick commissions and canvases.
Mike will have all his comics and more (sorry, I don't know the details but that's even more reason to check out his site)
We'll be at MCM on Saturday and Sunday so hopefully you will be too :)

So, I wasn't being completely honest last Monday with my comic about Tali slowly shredding the sofa. It may have something to do with me playing with her and encouraging her to use the sofa as her toy… Oops…

It's been a very long time coming but after months of hard work, my new mini-comic is finished! Protocol is a story following two crew members onboard a research ship somewhere in the galaxy. It's my first foray into one of my favourite genres, Sci-Fi, and hopefully won't be the last. I'm hesitant to give too much information for fear it would spoil the story but I will say it's my biggest comic to date - 56 pages!
The see a slideshow of three pages to give a taste of what Protocol is all about, check out my official site. To get your hands on a copy, I'll be bringing it along with me to the MCM Expo next week (May 24th-26th) and all future conventions. Shortly after MCM, it'll appear in my online shop too (as will the other bits and pieces that I'm yet to add!).

When we first got our new sofa we were pretty strict with Tali if ever she started to scratch or climb up the arms. As time went on, we became less and less bothered…

Dress up request: I love your Comics and really would like to see you and Tali as Peanuts Characters. Oh, and here's a cat for you: =°ω°= byizibizispider
First off, thanks for the cat! I have so many fond memories of watching Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang that your suggestion was the first I wanted to tackle after an absence of drawing dress up requests. Great choice!

The weather has been great recently which means no more excuses, I have to start regularly cutting the grass. If I could, I'd leave Tali to do it however as this limerick shows, that would be unpleasant for all concerned.
Poor Tali. Damned if she does, damned if she doesn't.

Just last Saturday I had my first convention of the year which was a highly enjoyable event all around I'd say! Met some great new people and old friends alike and got to table next to the highly talented Cristian Ortiz.
The folks at Bleeding Cool (a neat nerd culture site) recorded a walking tour of Comica and around the 6:20 mark there's a lengthy pan of my table. However, I was totally off with the fairies and rather rudely ignored the cameraman - something I promise wasn't intentional! There's more pictures and info on the Bleeding Cool site so be sure to check that out too.

I've never known a cat to be so anal about boxes as Tali. Previous cats I've owned have all loved boxes regardless of size or quality but Tali, she has more refined tastes.

There's a skill to fussing a cat. It's knowing when to stop. When enough's enough. And when you cross the line between being mad about cats and utterly insane.

Whenever I see some kind of promotion for cat food that states it has 'extra gravy' I can only imagine the amount of food bowls licked clean of gravy, skilfully leaving only the meat. Usually all over the floor too.

Dress up request: I may have to request a Mordecai & Rigby (Regular Show) version of you and Tali! by Emmeline Pidgen (@emmelinedraws)
An excellent suggestion! Alongside Gravity Falls and Adventure Time, Regular Show is one of those kids' TV programmes that I'm not ashamed of saying I watch. Come to think of it, I',m not ashamed of saying I watch any kids' TV show. Or film. Or comic. Wait… am I still a kid?!

Over the weekend my wife was feeling pretty rough with little help from medicinal sources. However, when Tali cuddled up to her as she slept, that appeared to ease the pain. Who would have thought all she needed was a dose of Tali-cetamol?
